A Transit Management System (TMS) is a system that comprehensively manages information related to vehicle location and operational status. The TMS contains various information systems, including Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and the Passenger Information System (PIS), which are linked to provide more sophisticated functions. Each system of the TMS collects various types of information from buses such as vehicle location information, driving speed, the number of times each bus door opens and closes, braking frequency and actual run route. Such information can help bus transit companies plan for changes in bus dispatching and routes, optimize capital investments and so on, in order to enhance the user-friendliness of bus services and improve profitability of the bus transit business.
These integrated and optimised solutions boost the performance of operations required by transportation companies with complete route, fleet and service management, providing accuracy, safety and compliance for operators and passengers.
