Niigata Station Bus Terminal has been newly opened, with bus boarding and alighting areas integrated under the elevated railway tracks of the station. The opening of the bus terminal is expected to facilitate smooth transfers between buses and trains. As part of the environmental improvement, CMP(Content Management Platform) has been adopted as a departure/arrival information distribution system for 38 screens. In Niigata City, CMP has already been installed at Bandai City Bus Center. This achievement led to the introduction of CMP this time. We spoke with them about the background of the introduction, how people use the bus terminal, and future development.

Background of the introduction of CMP

- What made you choose CMP?

Mr.Hida:When we were assigned to the large-scale digital signage project at the newly opened Niigata Station Bus Terminal, we had no experience in bus operation information distribution, so we decided to jointly operate this signage project with Niigata Kotsu Co.,Ltd (hereinafter called Niigata Kotsu), which is in charge of bus operation management, and Shinko Kikaku Co.,Ltd (hereinafter called Shinko Kikaku), which has a good relationship with Niigata Kotsu.

After consulting with Shinko Kikaku, they recommended that we ask LECIP, which has a stable operational achievement at Bandai City Bus Center in Niigata City, to provide us with a bus operation information distribution system. We then heard a detailed explanation of the features of the CMP from LECIP. We felt that the system was very advanced and would allow us to do many things in the future, so we decided to install CMP without any hesitation.

Information can be updated at any time

- I see that Shinko Kikaku recommended CMP to JR East Japan Planning Co.,Ltd (hereinafter called JR East Japan Planning).

Mr.Enomoto:Right. There has been no problems with the operation so far, and I introduced this to JR East Japan Planning because it would be easier to understand if the bus center and bus terminal had a similar visual appearance.

- Thank you, what did you particularly like about CMP?

Mr.Enomoto:It is the ability to distribute information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere. The ability to update information immediately is very easy to use, and the content is not too complicated, so I think it is good that it is easy to do. I also like the fact that the company responds immediately to any problems that may arise.

Users look at signage frequently

- What is the reaction of people using the bus terminal?

Ms.Sato:Some people approach the signage screen to take a closer look at it, and we are happy to hear that they are looking at the information and advertisements carefully. We are convinced that digital signage is a medium that can be seen by users.

Mr.Hida:We will know what kind of demand there is for the content to be displayed on the signage as we operate it. In the process, we need to think about what we should do next. Some people are looking at the signage screen while touching it. They are touching it because they don't know what it is. I am sure that we must also examine whether the current content is really sufficient in such cases.

- Yes, that's right. The flexibility to change the screen design is one of the features of CMP, and I would like to take advantage of that to make it even better. Thank you very much for your time today. We will continue to do our best to meet your expectations.
